Professional Development Points For Pursuing Justice

A Possible Total of over 100 PDPs with Appropriate Documentation for work between now and May 15, 2009

    Course Work

You have already earned 67.5 PDPs (like a graduate course) for attending our summer institute.

This summer institute comprised 36 hours of scholar contact.

You have already completed two of the three forms of documentation for these PDPs by attending the summer institute sessions, and completing a course evaluation.  The remaining piece of documentation is a short reflection (submitted in May) on how Pursuing Justice learning affects your teaching and curriculum in 2007-2008.

    Written Materials

15 PDPs are available for written materials growing out of Pursuing Justice content seminars.

These written materials usually are a curriculum lessons sent to Rich, Geoff and the Pursuing Justice website by May 15, 2009.

    Peer Work

15 PDPs are available to teachers who collaborate on Pursuing Justice projects

Forms of collaboration can include peer review, collaborative supervision, peer coaching, and mentoring.

Possible Documentation for peer work PDPs might be meeting notes, peer review comments, logged meeting hours, pre/post observation notes, and reflections on learning from peer observation.

    Presentation

You can earn up to 24 PDPs for presenting to colleagues. The state has set the minimum number of PDP’s to be earned for presenting at 10.

Presentations might be staged for department colleagues, school faculty meetings, grade-level groups, and/or our annual Pursuing Justice Exhibition.  In order to earn the minimum 10 PDPs, you have to stage at least 3 presentations, with presenters getting 2 to 3 PDP points per clock hour.  One hour of preparation can generally be logged for each hour of presentation.

Presentation PDP documentation includes hour logs, presentation notes, and participant responses.  Conference presentations can earn you up to 30 PDPs with similar documentation
